 | John Lyon v. Reuben Barrow lawsuit In 1807 my fifth great grandfather, Reuben Barrow, was sued by a neighbor, John Lyon, for defamation. Lyon asked for $500 compensation for a poem Barrow had written accusing him of hog stealing. Barrow countersued for $1000. Lyon won but the court records in Opelousas, Louisiana, don't say if he collected. Read the poem and some of the court records. |
